nyc type | http://nyctype.com
stumbled across this site after reading nubby twiglet’s link love this week. love the simple layout of images documenting some amazing type around the city. this site has inspired me to stop being so enticed in my phone + look up, look around.. + capture some of the beautiful typography the city has to offer. if you want to get your work featured on the site, just make sure to tag your instagram pictures with the hashtag: #nyctype. for the summer, im challenging myself to be more active on my instagram + document the world around me. think this is a great place to start.
aside from the blatant disrespect of taking google reader completely off the google navigation, i seem to be reminded daily that come july 1st, google reader will no longer be there.
alright, i get it.
these last few months ive been experimenting with other readers looking to find my new replacement. even though ive found several i like at the current moment i find myself still using google reader at the end of the day.
when designing user interfaces is part of your job, you tend to get a little nit picky over small things. I absolutely love the simplicity of the google reader, so when searching for a replacement that’s one thing i look for in my replacement. simple and functional. so ive found two that i will be sticking to:
feedly | for the iphone + ipad
perfect for: someone looking for a more hip reader that gives you different layout options for each of your feeds.
why i use it?
+ although i prefer using the browser to read my subscriptions i love the interface of feedly on the ipad + iphone. love the magazine layout as it generally makes the reader more appealing as you have options what you can read instead of having to keep scrolling.
as of lately, ive been on such a floral + pattern high. love wearing a pop of either with my rather plain attire. summer has officially started + it’s time to start racking up on bathing suits if you haven’t already. i came across this awesome designer, zimmermann and had to share with you some of their awesome designs. at the moment, the price range is definitely in the splurge range for a bathing suit — but a girl can dream.

even though i made a vine account, i never actually made a vine video. the whole six second thing constantly had me over thinking concepts for videos, which in turn resulted in videos never being made. ever. i barely opened the app.
then yesterday, i received an update for instagram. instagram just added video to my already favorite pastime app + just like that.. vine died in my world. i deleted the app for good.
but why would you delete the ‘great’ vine?
+ i didn’t like being constrained to six seconds. i felt with such limited time, my vines needed to be like awesome. now, instagram granted me up to fifteen seconds of recording time. the videos don’t have to be that long — but i no longer feel pressure of capturing great videos in just a mere six seconds.
what can i say? i have a thing for a good five panel hat w. fabrics that pop. great summer accessory for days when doing hair is just not in the plans. see any you like?
